We are a traditional restaurant offering authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of the city of Lucca. For forty years, the Antica Locanda dell'Angelo has been known for its welcoming and warm atmosphere and of course, the delicious dishes. We only use fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure our guests have an unforgettable dining experience.
The ancient 'Locanda dell'Angelo', once 'Hostaria dell'Angelo', inherited this name from the Convent dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel. The doubt remains whether it is the one founded in 764 by Teutprand and his wife Gumpranda, two rich merchants who had endowed with a munific legacy the neighbouring Church of S. Michele, or the one founded by Aliprando at the beginning of the 10th century. A sixteenth-century aedicola, linked to the name of Baldassare Guinigi, with a painting restored in the nineteenth century by Eusebio Puccioni, has taken up an ancient religious presence in the Corte dell'Angelo.
